Steam and Pronouns
I can't post a photo I don't think. I've recently discovered I am more than one person. At least steam seems to think anyway. I found it in my achievements. It says dane verdier added x to their wishlist. I could care less what someone wants to call themselves but what I don't like is how it's being pushed as a political agenda and indoctrinating children that don't have the mental capacities to make decisions. Anyone that has any experience with them, you would know that one day they want to be an astronaut and the next a fireman. We don't let children make hedge fund decisions. Most kids can't even decide what color their room is. There is a very good reason for this. They shouldn't have decisions pushed on them that have risk of long term damage, physical or mental. If you feel the same, post something about it as I was advised to do instead of just changing the word in my profile. If they want this to be a thing all they need to do is add a few boxes to check off or not check off on the profile for all profiles 18 and up. They already have some age restrictions built in. It can't be hard to have some boxes appear on profiles of a certain age.

They, their, they're? What's the confusion again?
Yeah, there's been a ton of BS going on with real and fake genders and whatnot, but gender-neutral pronouns have existed since forever.

And "has added something to their wishlist" definitely reads a lot better than "has added something to his/her wishlist".
How about it reads like this to shut all you haters up: "(Insert profile name here) has added something to the wishlist"

Some guy:
why does Steam write "... to the wishlist"? It's not a single wishlist for everyone...

Since people like to complain about everything, even if it's perfectly fine, they'll complain about this too.
:roguechallenge: Better opt for “that,” rather than “the,” then.

"That" is a good one also. "That wishlist"

You would be correct.

Even if it said "Added to wishlist", some grammar-nut would say something about that too.

How about "a" wishlist?

Education helps. There is a plural and a singular use.

He added something to the wishlist of some random user? :-)

 Which would be an odd conclusion to reach based on the message? An indefinite article does not only imply “any, at random, from the possible options.”

Okay, fine then.

How about, "(Game name here) added to users own personal wishlist".

~or~

"Wishlist item added: (game name here)".

OR, we leave everything as it is right now because there is NOTHING wrong with it and leave the perpetually offended folks to their own impotent whining?

And how is that fundamentally different from now? You're going from gender neutral to... gender neutral.

Okay then, how about this one, "(Game name here) has been wishlisted by (user name here)"

Why? Singular, gender neutral they has been used for over 700 years when gender is unknown or irrelevant in context. That applies here. The usage is accurate.

I know, but to help others out, just cut out any form of said gender so everyone has nothing to complain about - be direct.
