Copy - Paste screenshot in steam chat

i was chatting with a dude on the Steam messenger and he send me screenshots while playing a game but very quick.
so i asked him how he is doing it so fast. he told me when you're ingame just press the Print button and then go to the steam chat and press CTRL + V
but when i did that it send just a completly white picture.
so im wondering how exactly people doing that and why did i got this white picture ?

The canonical, so to say, way is to press F12 which results in a shareable screenshot. Aos for the white picture, what Windows version are you using and is desktop composing enabled?

Tbf I have a shorter keyboard with no numpad so I don't have a Print key, so I have always been wondering how people take screenshots so quickly and paste them into Steam's chat.

Now if you use the Steam Chat app you can take photos with your phone and do it that way, but that's all I can think of without using Snipping Tool or Xshare or w/e, unless someone has a better idea for those of us who don't have a Print or Print Screen key
