It has a tendency of messing with save data of some particular games (i.e. some of the WWE games, Nickelodeon Kart Racers and Sunset Overdrive) plus has a tendency to fail and erase all data for others due to failed synchronizations as well.
because the cloud can RUIN saves. Cloud wrecked my 500 stardew valley saves, yes its suppose to ask "do you want to use cloud save" but it doesnt always. I have had it wreck my saves (go back weeks and weeks) w/o even asking, just did it.
I HATE cloud saves with a passion
I have exactly the same problem. I have also tested the BETA. Unfortunately without success. The cloud saves activate automatically after each restart. I have never used this feature as I always have and use a local backup of my games and savegames. What worked for me was that I manually disabled the cloud feature for each game. I hope this will be fixed soon. I agree with Rotan, I'm not a fan of cloud game saves either ;).
So basically all your saved games are stored on your computer and they are accesible even if you start steam in offline mode.
It's simple, i don't want them. Easy as that.
Ever get the feeling that every tiny piece of software is now starting to force crap on you whatever it is?

Some people like to play it safe and just back up their saves manually rather than have an automated system.
They pushed out another update last night to fix that.
