it is for steam to decide what action they will take. they dont tell you everything they do, nor do they have any reason to tell you. they are not going to tell you what action they take against another account, nor is it your business.

if you know an account is using a vpn to bypass region restrictions/pricing, report the account thru its profile and move on

And it's up to Valve and those developers/publishers to decide whether that warrants actions or not.

That said, Valve has been making changes to how things get handled, so I guess the reddit/YT things you looked at didn't mention this.

They mention it, and teaching how to go around this new "things get helded" and it very sad how people are greedy scammers even at buying games :(

then fix society, that is the only way your going to get rid of those people. whining is not going to fix anything. do you have a solution to the problem besides saying "FIX IT"? if the problem was simple to fix, it would have been done already.

Thank god for privacy laws that prevent Valve from asking for ID's in this, especially since they can't even actually verify them. Let alone that lots of people don't even own one as it's not mandatory everywhere.

I find it really odd that people are so willing to provide such sensitive information to corporations.

People making paypal accounts, revolut etc after specific circumstances muss show their ID to them, because they accounts are bloked and etc paypal demands full scan of ID from both sides without any censored marks on it... So this is a normal practice for corporations...

Payment providers are different, they actually provide a sensitive service. Privacy laws often factor that in as well. Though I never provided Paypal with an ID, nor have they ever requested one from me.

Valve is not a bank, it's just a gaming corp. Why you would want to share sensitive information like that with them, is what I find odd.

My paypal account was blocked because i entered a limit 2500 euros, because after year limit wasnt reseted (they said 2500 euros/year thats a lie) and they wanted a full scan of my ID without any cenosr... so i give them ♥♥♥♥, because i know people with the same problem and the give them censored fragile data on ID scans... so my money will blocked and i cant get it back never... 6 years passed then...

"Why you would want to share sensitive information like that with them, is what I find odd" - only scammers using VPN's shuld be verified once a month or something... I simply dont like scammers frauds...

There were a discussion created a week or two ago. OP said he visited his family or something in Argentina and changed to store there but his account got banned after returning to US. He admitted he didn't change back to US store after his return.

Basically, Valve/Steam actually bans people for using VPN to buy cheaper games.

well for some people in small countries with f'ed up currencies its actually the only way to buy games and items from steam for example one of my friends that was in india said that his region didnt have india rupes in it for some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ steam reasons and that it was automatically set to usa dollar and if you know anything about india currency it was actually a lost cause for him to try and buy anything with rupes exchange to dollar cus basically usa region just has extortionate prices and that he said he had to change his region to turkey or something so he can actually buy anything.

just saying not all of these peoples are frauds, just some folks trying to play an original game once and not the stupid crack versions of them.
