Fps drop
I have an acer predator hellios 300 with rtx 2060, 16gb ram and intel core i7 9th gen with NVIDIA graphics driver. My games on steam have started stuttering. They never used to stutter before however slowly, its like the graphics and everything is all good however, the game will be working smoothly with like fps drop and stuttering in every 3 to 4 minutes or so, happening again and again.

My games are up to date
My windows is up-to date
My graphics driver is up-to date
NVIDIA graphics card is set to high performance
Battery settings are set to favor performance

I do not know what to do I have tried almost everything.

I tried to see if my laptop was overheating, but i didn't face any thermal throttling so far.

Every time I play any game i get CPU temperatures around 92 and GPU around 86.

Recently with turbo mode (overclocking) I have been getting

CPU 92 and GPU 91 degrees Celsius

What do I do?
Is it an overheating issue or something I can figure out what exactly is the problem here.

The GPU is definitely downclocking at those temps, around 82-85 is when most GPU start clocking down to prevent heat damage.
So there will be definitely possible stutter/FPS drops there.
For the CPU ,its borderline, its still in the acceptable range for 9th gen i7 but not really ideal either.
At what resolution and framerate are you playing? Whats the refresh rate of your display?
Maybe consider turning on Vsync in some more demanding games to give your CPU/GPU some breathing space.

It does sound like overheating. The temps are high, high enough to be throttling or near throttling. And stuttering and FPS drops would be the consequences.

The hardware is 4-5 years old, and it is possible for fans to wear out and thermal paste to need replacing, or needing to physically clean the system out. It's also possible there was a bit of a defect with the cooling where it was always running a bit hotter and so you experienced some issues sooner than other users may have (individual experiences vary).

I would confirm all the fans are working. If they are I might see about redoing the cooling.

Although just as some additional details, it is summer now so what are the ambient temps where you're running the laptop these days? And is that significantly warmer than it used to be?

And what I mean is my house is 72F, and I have pretty good temps on my PC. But if I moved someplace hot without AC, or my AC broke and it was 95F in my house, I would expect my PC to run hotter since the ambient temps are over 20 degrees warmer. Systems that already run hot, like gaming laptops, may hit a tipping point in those conditions. So having a clear picture on that may help focus where the solution should be heading.

@nullable

I bought this laptop brand new about exactly two years ago and got it cleaned up once which was about a year or go.

The fans seem to be working fine, I have the predator sense installed, nothing seems to be odd about that.

Regarding the fact about the weather, yes I think the raise in temps could be due to the change of weather, it is summer here and I sit in a room with a fan on max speed while gaming, sometimes even with the ac on with temp around 26 deg C

here's a user benchmark test idk if it helps in figuring out the problem.

What do you thinkk?

Only thing obvious from that is that your GPU is not performing as well as it should but its not critical or anything. Still suspect a heat problem and the GPU clocking down.
Could try lowering some graphic settings or locking FPS at a certain number, that should help.
Or use MSI Afterburner to turn down the max power consumption of the card to like 85-90% which will prevent it from reaching the highest temps but in exchange you will lose a bit of performance.
But should get rid of stutters.

Is there any way besides msi burner to tweak the graphics settings as you have mentioned? If yes then can you guide me a little from where etc. If that doesnt fix the problem then ill give msi after burner a try

26C is about 79F, so it's warmer than my house but not unreasonably so. But I guess the question is when it's cooler, in the 22C range, does that dramatically improve your laptop temps?

Either way I suppose I'd look at re-pasting and reseating the cooling after ruling all the easy stuff out.

Out of curiosity what are your idle temps?

Well your GPU does seem to be underperforming, but since it's hot enough to throttle that's not really a surprise. I think all it confirms is hot temps are hot.

Not reallyyy tbh, it doesnt improve laptop temps.

Ill probably look into re-pasting considering ive tried everything, I even tried undervolting ad underboosting using the throttlestop application.

Idle temps are around

61 deg cpu and 59 deg gpu

min temps are

60 cpu and 58 gpu
