Game installed a trojan virus on my computer
I purchased Gnome Enchanted Jigsaw game and DLC, My computer would not install the game. However trying to install the game planted a trojan - trojan/win32/doplik.

You literally have a first hand source and are going "nuh uh".
I'm literally going "all the other data I can find contradicts one badly worded post" yes thats correct.

extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof

The developer themselves saying a build got uploaded with malware isn't 'proof'? Other people on the forum saying they got an email like presented in the screenshot isn't 'proof'? People talking about the game being removed from the store for a bit around the time of the screenshot isn't 'proof'?

Yeah, ok.

Keep in mind,., Malware is a very broad term.
Viruses are Malware, Trojans are malware, not all malware are viruses or trojans. SO it is possible for malware to slip by if it isn't implemented in the way a virus or trojan would normally be implemented.
No, the dev didnt say that, actually. The dev, in broken english never once said the build itself contained malware. Which is why is it EASY to believe that the absolutely chopped sentences do not mean what you are choosing to believe them to mean.

Noneglish speakers not communicated effectively in english is not exactly a new phenomenon

People who can't read properly arent uncommon either apparently.

Except he did.

They aren't 'chopped sentences' like you are saying they are. Small grammatical mistakes doesn't suddenly mean the developer has no idea what he's talking about. Especially when other people stated they received an email about it from Steam.

The lasted version of NanoWar is clean now.

Sorry for this. Becareful when a friend ask you to test his game on private message on Discord. I didn't get my Discord account back yet. It was the most stressfull days of my indie developer life.

Ok, read it slowly now. Where did he said "a build that included malware"

Oh right he didnt. He said "uploaded a malware" is that a build that linked to malware, a build that contained malware.

When all the OTHER data you can find says the build linked to malware, then his broken english VERY clearly does not say the build contained malware, only an idiot would assume that he was saying it did.

And given the devs account was still spreading malware by link on discord up until 6 days ago, and you can see he's not a native english speaker, it makes your "assessment" even more questionable

I've never seen hairs split this much.

Why else would the dev say the current version is clean now if there was not malware in the previous version? Why else would the dev say Steam detected the malware quickly? Why else would there be other people talking about the email stating a build had malware?

You are pigeon-holing this whole thing because he didn't specifically say "This version had malware and was distributed to users on Steam." in perfect English.
What part of NOT A NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKER is hard for you to comprehend? Are you also not a native English speaker?

If the old version contained a link to malware and the new version didnt, the new version would be clean wouldnt it XD

Are you SERIOUSLY this thick?

The only person saying the email exists is literally a person who has been crusading against steam for years, and sharing a blatantly editted image.

Him being a native speaker is irrelevant based on his presented comment. It shows he has a very good grasp on the English language because of how few actual mistakes there are.

This is the definition of grasping at straws considering you keep ignoring other users reporting the same thing. There's literally another user talking about the email in the thread I linked.

A native English speaker? Yes.
Okay what's going on here.. I know I wrote a message earlier and now it's not here. And I don't have any moderator messages about a warning or anything so... what?? Okay I guess I'll try to re-write it then. And this time I will make sure to record what I write in case that happens again.

I wouldn't worry too much. This "person" that you seem to be replying to in this thread is well known across steam for "misunderstanding" many things "in their favor" for the purpose of attempting to appear "right and correct" in arguments. It's why I have them blocked. I used "person" in quotes because I'm not entirely sure they are a human. I still think they might be some sort of robot following a script.

Regardless the bottom line of this thread is this: The screenshot of being contacted by a steam employee about a steam game containing malware or a virus is completely fabricated. The developer comment is referring to something else not on steam that their game linked to, off of steam, that contained malware. The actual game that was distributed through steam did not contain malware or viruses or anything like that.

I will repeat it again: Steam has not yet (at the time of writing this comment) ever distributed any game directly on it's platform that ever contained viruses or malware on it even once in all of it's years on steam. Anyone that is claiming that steam has done this is completely making up FUD just to try and make steam look bad in the forums. What they claimed in the first post of this thread did not happen.

Just going to leave this here to help back up OP for those who just closed their ears to any other evidence.

You linked to the root steam discussions page with no specific thread, topic, or message. I'm not sure what you're trying to show us but that doesn't show anything?

More people in that thread make mention of the malware uploaded after a dev got his account compromised.

Valve suddenly requiring 2FA for uploading and distributing builds gives more credit to what was talked about with a developers account becoming compromised and a build with malware being uploaded.

Oh wait, they removed the thread.

Here's the official announcement that was linked in the thread I posted.

https://steamcommunity.com/groups/steamworks/announcements/detail/3749866608167579206

Other users also share the dev themselves saying his accounts were compromised and malware uploaded.

Just to add to the evidence like;

And another one.
