"You've made too many requests recently. Please wait and try your request again later." for the last 48hours
As the topic implies Steam has been giving me this error whenever I try to open my inventory/someone else's inventory/market offers/etc. for the last 48 hours with this error:
"Sorry!
An error was encountered while processing your request:

You've made too many requests recently. Please wait and try your request again later."
Is this only me and how do I fix it are my questions!

this restriction is per IP, so any form of shared internet connection is very likely to trigger it faster.

of course, scripts/browser addons also contribute to exceeding the limit because they might do things you dont requests you dont necessarily notice.

f.e. Augmented Steam does 2-3 additional requests every time you click a marketable item

the restriction is not short, it might even be longer than 2 days.

solution: change IP if you wanna use it earlier.

certain url nodes of Steam were severely rate limited for a few weeks, it is more relaxed now but depending on how they block, people/networks might still be affected by it.

At the end of October, Valve reduced the permissible request rate for inventory lookups (endpoints).

This broke all Steam Market browser addons that heavily interrogated your owned items, typically causing a "429 Too Many requests" IP ban after a mere half-dozen transactions. The ban can easily last 6 hours, and it auto-refreshes if you exceed the limit again during the ban.

According to findings on the ArchiSteamFarm github, extension developers will need to forcibly cap the number of matches returned to 2000 (via the "count" parameter), and introduce other delays so as to guarantee only 1 request every 4 seconds.

This is deliberate behavior on Valve's part. Until the addon devs update their code, you can't do a damn thing about it except change your IP and go back to using only the clunky, non-enhanced official Steam Client (which apparently isn't affected).

tl;dr... Change your IP.

just dont peep at any inventories when you get rate-limited
if you do view another inventory when youre under this cooldown, itll reset it
otherway you could get around it is if you view it on mobile using data, not home network, or use vpn on web browser incognito mode

So how long is the "rate-limited" time ?

:summercat2023:

I had the rate limit issue over Christmas and this explanation makes a lot of sense except:

I hit the rate limit using the default Steam client with no modifications or addons and I hit it after only looking at the inventories of about half a dozen friends.

Before I start trying to trade cards with friends again this sale I'm hoping for some reassurance that I won't hit the rate limit again. Some clearer guidelines from Steam itself, a warning or a lighter cooldown would all help significantly.

I didn't check my inventory from 7th of July, it's the 11th and when I just did it's still giving me this same error ???

Same issue. I have no extensions or add-ons at all. All I’ve done is try to periodically look at inventories linked in the Trading Cards group to try to make trades to finish my set of Summer in the City cards.

Incidentally, the inventories won’t even load correctly, so I’ve sometimes switched between my computer and my phone trying to see if that will do the trick. I’m not sure if some inventories are too large to load correctly or something, but this is getting ridiculous.

Yes! Inventories failing to load correctly in the trade window is one reason I sometimes end up having to reload them! I don't think it's contributed in my case (I hit the limit again the other day even while waiting several minutes between checking friends) but I can certainly sympathise.
