Looking for turn-based game like FF6

Need a good 16-bit game to play similar to FF6. I just tried the Demo for Octopath traveler and I couldn't stand the drawn on narrative of every thought that comes into their head. It was like watching Yugioh from my childhood, the drawn out argument with his subconscious on why he lost a fight.

Final Fantasy did not suffer from this nonsense. So I need a good game, turn-based like FF, story drive and the protagonist is not vain providing a narrative of their every action like most JRPG's 🙄

I know you guys have some ideas.

Haven't played it myself (yet), but it's highly rated and looks like a good SNES style JRPG.
