im head mod over there, it's not really much worse than the stuff you see on 8chan, and that isn't censored.

8chan is anarchy really. Although not sure why the word block at all. I ♥♥♥♥♥ about Miiverse, geese at least they have perves hired to read into your stuff first, not some automatic program word targeting.

The reason behind the censorship is probably simply due to previous instances of spamming and flamewars either by or towards those sites.
That and a lot of public perception problems, everyone thinks the *chan sites are chock-full of evil crap, even though they're not. At least not completely...

All those something-chan sites are just collection points for trolls. They are not even anime fans, just bunch of fools, who use anime just for widening their trolling repertory.

I'm actually happy that Steam censors it.

Is nothing wrong with having some weird tastes - I have myself tons, including the most hardcore forms of hentai, but I don't bring those to places where common sense is required at a certain extent.

It is when people keep linking to it and bypassing the filters to post and advertise a inappropriate NSFW site on an open forum forbidding posting such content.

In an ideal world, people would simply follow the rules. Sadly we don't live on one, so we have to step in and measures have to be taken to be sure rules are enforced.

I mean, I see where you're coming from, but this seems overkill. Chat and discussions are now censored like hell
