Games like Stars!?

If anyone remembers it, there was an old (Windows 3.x) strategy game called Stars! Tounge firmly planted in cheek, but it was a really interesting, deep, fun game. Each planet had rating in Gravity, Temperature, and Radiation, and different races had different bands for where they could survive in those categories. Some were even immune to effects from some (or all) of them. You could build your own alien races, giving them certain options (like Hyper Expansion, which let them grow population faster and build small, cheap colony ships to spread quickly), and decide what kind of survivability range they had on new planets. You could terraform planets to bring them closer to your optimal range, increasing how fast your population grew. And as you unlocked new technologies, you got access to new weapons, sheilds, engines, armors, and hulls for ships, and you could slot different pieces on different hulls to make different kinds of ships.

So, any more recent games with similar features around people feel like suggesting? I'm having an urge to create the Hadenmen (cyborg warriors from the Deathstalker novels) and conquer another galaxy.

Yeah, I've been perusing the Store, seeing what's there, but there's so much it's not easy winnowing it down to ones that have the features I want. Your recommendation looks good, I'll check it out.
