Your thoughts on a third person zombie shooter

I've been wanting to make a game that feels similar to Zombies from the original Black Ops -- but with a story. I think it would be fun to have a game with objectives mixed with surviving waves of zombies that drop perks.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for that Adrian. I've been working on the controls for a couple of weeks, and I guess now it's time to jump into the post apocalypse/zombie theme.
Hopefully I pull it off right!

I agree that there are a lot of zombie games, but something about them just doesn't capture the same feeling as when I used to play Black Ops Zombies.. I think its the perfectly timed perks and gambling points for a chance at the ray gun that was just fun.

I'm expecting a free game key when you're done
There really are a lot of zombie survival games, but that's the most popular genre right now. I mean look at DayZ, Rust, etc. They made millions and abandoned them, it's quite profitable right now with early access games. Please don't be like them tho. Finish your projects!

I agree - but that doesn't mean that a good zombie game won't be well-received. 3rd person is more interesting that 1st person in my book.

Awesome. And ya Purple Angel, initially I wanted to do something like sniper elite nazi zombie but now I am thinking I might want to make it more like Black Ops Zombies, but with a bit more exploration.

I'll update everyone when I've made some more progress. Maybe about a month or two before I have something worth showing.

Okay, I may be wrong on this but: -

1) There are a large number of zombie shooter games out there.
2) Some of them are AAA releases worked on by teams of highly qualified and experienced artists and programmers,
3) So you would be entering a very crowded market where the high ground is already occupied by AAA developers.

But it's your call. If you make something interesting and innovative one of the bigger studios may get interested.

Good marketing is the most important factor after the quality of the game.

It have to be a free to play game but in things like the progress system you need to be very careful with that because i am very upset of the difficulty of progress in free games so please if you are gonna do that game do a simple and easy to understand and attractive progress system but if there no progress system make good textures, if you are gonna do it , good luck :)
