+1 Reasonable adults can speak without resorting to vulgarities -- unlike most of the Internet. I applaud Valve's decision and hope this profanity filter remains. Their house, their rules.

It also gives the message a different tone. And on a media where tone and intention are hard to detect it's a sure way to make things angry fast.
While conveying the same point. "You're absolutely wrong" and "You're bloody ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wrong" convey two very different kinds of responses. You're setting the dialogue at two very different levels depending on which of those sentences you use.
And you can be sharp and straight to the point without resoting to swear words either.
And good on you for listening to, understanding, and accepting a contrary opinion and not throwing a hissy fit. Don't see that very often around here.
