NVIDIA Shadowplay Red Line Issue
Hi, I recently got back into recording videos with NVIDIA shadowplay. Upon hitting my manual record hotkey, the screen capture icon on the bottom left of my screen had a red slash over it.

When I hit my record hotkey to save the video, it is saved into the directory I specified, but when I open the .mp4 folder, the video does not play and I get a message telling me another program is using the .mp4 file.

I spoke to a live chat representative and he told me to download the beta, which didn't work, but I noticed that my screen capture was off by default, and I couldn't turn it back on, even if I constantly click "on" nothing happens: http://imgur.com/s3W6ygu

Yet, I can tweak my audio recording options just fine.

Here are my specs if they can come in handy:
-GTX 970
-12 GB RAM
-Intel Core i7-4770
-Windows 10 (Free upgrade)

I tried:

-Uninstalling and re-installing GeForce Experience
-Installing the BETA version of GeForce Experience
-Cleaning my TEMP folder
-Changing destination folders for my videos
-Uninstalling and re-installing my drivers
-Downloading the Windows Service Pack
-Turning off my firewall
-Re-binding my hotkeys
-Simply turning NVIDIA Shadowplay on and off
-Restarting my PC countless times
-Re-securing my GPU in it's socket
-Disabling Xbox Gamebar which I never used
-Tried recording in various games
-Checking the space of my HDD which has 900GB/1.80 TB
-Swtiching NVIDIA Streamer service to on then back on in services.msc

To no avail.

If someone has another solution, any help is greatly appreciated :)

Thanks!

Hi there,

I am having the same problem. I've used both the old and new ShadowPlay and neither record footage properly, but temporary files are created. It also creates a folder for all the games I attempt to record footage from but it doesn't import any videos.

While doing some research, I found that the problem is probably somewhere in Windows 10, as most people get this problem from there on.

My specs:
- GIGABYTE GTX 960
- 6 GB RAM
- Intel Core i7-920
- Windows 10 (clean install)
In the SP options there is something like 'record desktop', do you have it checked?
I just reinstalled all my drivers using Display Driver Uninstaller (http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html) and turning on "Delete C:\NVIDIA folder drivers" and it's working perfectly now.
I will try right now, but what does deleting the C:\NVIDIA folder drivers do?

It's not 'recommended' but it gets rid of all the files NVIDIA has left behind after deinstalling the drivers and other software. I don't know why it is unrecommended but I did it just in case.

Issue seems to have fixed itself since I updated to the latest version of GeForce Experience last week...
for me disabling msi afterburner worked (if you have it installed)
aka uninstalling it cause it blocks share somehow for me
