A ton of random people adding me?
Hey guys, I have been looking through the forums at questions and answers about this kind of thing and I don't know if it's me but this just seems a little different. For the past few weeks everytime I play CS:GO and get about half way into the match someone who has a private profile will add me so I'll block them then another few people will add me. This happens for a few hours after the first invite with a complete range of people adding me, sometimes it'll be 3-4 but it comepletely ranges. Any ideas on why? Also if I do accept them onto my friendslist and try saying hello I never get a reply, so i just unfriend and block. Any ideas would be apreciated, thank you :D :bbtcat:

There are a lot of scammers that come from CS:GO who will add you and try to steal your stuff. Playing CS:GO gets people tradable items that's why a lot of scamming attention is coming from it recently.
Best thing to do is ignore the incoming requests, unless you know they are adding you for a reason don't engage them. They'll most likely try to scam you for your items.

Ah ok cheers, do you know how they'd be able to get my details/name to add me as they often have nothing in common?

CS:GO is directly connected to your Steam account as it's a Valve game. And with that comes the ability for anyone to get anyone else's profile link from in game. Not sure how to in CS:GO I do have the game but don't play.
But you can usually open your Steam Overlay while in game and click Recent Players and see player's profiles that way.

They don't directly search you if that's what you're worried about, and they can only see details you have on public on your Steam profile.

If you notice most of these ramdom people have private profiles or low level with no recent game activity. Probably a bunch of hijackers, scammers and phisers. Just block them

Why steam allows a new account to send out 100 000 requests is funny.
Limit them to 10 requests per day per steam level, most people who are legit have level 5, that's 50 friend requests a day, i doubt you need more than that.

I've set my account to private and they're still adding me, getting 10 a day, how do they send requests to a private account...

Blocking them is pointless as they make new accounts.

A private account just means you don't show any details on your account other than your account name and picture:pleased:

Or maybe stop commenting as this thread is old and already answered and technically you bringing it back up brings it more attention.

Can someone help me? So i was trading in ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and put up a new trade and an invite comes so since im new to this stuff i added him and he sent me a picture of his trade and i downloaded it and opened it and then it showed that steam needed to be online to work and restarted steam but when i tried logging in it showed me that steam couldnt connect to steam servers, so the question is that, did i get hacked?Ps: tiping this from the phone) and his profile was private.

There's no telling but be careful and avoid viewing media that people message to you. It's pretty common knowledge that hackers use programs to "bind" exe or other files into images, making it execute when viewed.
