Horror Games to start off with.
Hello everyone, this is the first Topic I've made on Steam, but I have a question I thought you may be able to answer.

I've always been a bit of a ♥♥♥♥♥, but I've still loved Horror movies, and experiences and all the such. But I've never played a horror game. But I don't want to start off with something huge and terrifying, because that would ruin other Horror games I play in the future.

So, if you guys could recommend any good Horror games, which aren't terrifying, but still make me ♥♥♥♥ my pants a bit so I could start off with Horror games at ease, I would be extremely grateful, thank you. ^_^

Five Nights at Freddy's is a pretty good experience.
There's no 'easing into' truly terrifying games. They're either your taste, or they're not. I suggest manning up and starting with the best horror games Steam has to offer, then you will know for certain if horror games are for you.

>Penumbra series
>Amnesia: The Dark Descent
>Scratches
>The Lost Crown: A Ghosthunting Adventure
>Darkfall trilogy
>F.E.A.R.
>Outlast
>DeadSpace
>System Shock 2
>Dreadout

And play them properly too, no TV or radio in the background, no friends giggling at you on voice chat programs, no let's plays beforehand, no cheats, room absoutely dark and sound up. No distractions. You're either a horror gamer or you aren't. If you can't take it, there's no shame in quitting horror games. Theyre a niche thing, not really for everyone. Good luck.

Among the Sleep is a quite easy and not too creepy horror game. Noticed that it was harder on my SO since you play a toddler.
Five Nights At Freddy's. Still have the nightmares. Even with the $120.50 paycheck.
Knock-Knock =) I am sure it is scary or at least creepy to someone.
Dead Space, Resident Evil, and F.E.A.R. are good franchises to start with, and have multiple installments so you can get used to the differences between each game

Knock Knock definitely is quite a disturbing and creepy game, but it's really rather unique. Personally, I like it but it might not appeal to most people because it's so very strange and surreal. It is definitely not like any other game I have ever played.
I definitly recomend Amnesia series, slender, scp.... If you want somthing different you can look up "trenumbus" on youtube, or take a look at my game that im making called "The waiting room" heres a link to see the trailer.... https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/221760054/the-waiting-room-horror-game
doom 3 and silent hill 3
try shi no mori
Deadspace 1,2. Amnesia. And if you have a console, fatal frame. If you have a psp, Corpse party.
Siren and Silent Hill 2 on PS2 are must plays.
There's a horror game for 20 cents, if you don't want to spend a lot. I think it's called "Real Horror Stories Ultimate Edition". (If you see it for 2 dollars, just wait for it to become 20 cents again.)

No, no, no, no, no. a thousand times no, that "game" is not worth even that much, you're better off buying a gumball with your twenty cents. Besides that, it's available free online to boot. It's a horrible mix of still backgrounds that have a couple of 'hot spots' you have to click on repeatedly (like ten or twenty times in a row, I'm not even joking) until a jump scare happens. It is much like Sinthai Studios' The House years ago, but very badly done and in very bad taste. Don't waste your pennies on that crap.
