Which reviews do you trust more
When planning on purchasing a game which reviews do you find to be best in helping you make a decision? For me I prefer the negative reviews because the hater reviews are obvious and can be ignored where the legit complaints let me know any potential problem with the game. I don't tend to trust positive reviews because it feels like a lot of them are just fanboys/girls ( I don't discriminate) or I feel like they could be a ghost writer published by developers for sales. Which Reviews do you trust more?

I agree with your notion to find a critic you trust but sites like IGN and Gamespot have made people weary of mainstream media reviews. I can't really recall the last time I've seen a negative review from a journalist unless it was safe to do so such as no mans sky. But I do agree that Steam users can have an agenda too such as maybe trying to receive a free copy of a game or just blind support due to fanboyism. One thing that does bother me about steam reviews is the option to rate a review funny as most reviews meant to be are generic and tacky meant for likes as if it were the YouTube comment section with no actual insight to the opinion of a product. Such as the cleverly original, "Why are you reading the negative reviews? Buy this game!" Which should be deleted.

Btw I'm sorry for not using proper reply methods, I am new to the discussion board and I should have done my homework on how to contribute properly but the lot of you contributing have been giving me some good insight to ponder over for future purchases.

I check playtime firstly, anything negative with less than 1 hour played is ignored.

A player with a huge amount of playtime and a negative review usually catches my eye straight away, I like to know why that player has given a negative review yet has maybe hundreds of hours in the game.

In answer to your question, I don't trust any unless it's from a Steam friend.

why would someone put 100s of hours into a game then give it a negative review and be serious ?

It mostly happens when developers release a patch that "screw things up" for some players.

Changing F2P to P2W is another one.

I trust Spoony, AngryJoe and TotalBiscuit for opinions on games. Spoony hasn't put out much in terms of reviews for the past years so it's mainly AJ and TB. They give enough information on the game for me to decide to buy it or not.

If if those people like the game I might not buy it because it's not for me.

Before I used to watch GameTrailers because I just liked the reviewers voice. But I did notice them praising COD games a bit too much. How original they where. Yeeeeaaaa...Probably paid.

and how many titles realistically do that ? very very few most of them are babys whining about how something insignificant changed in a game they liked

the vast majority of them are either idiots or trolls
