From a 'being hacked into' side of things, that doesn't help in any way as they would still have your card details in their database. It only really helps for sites where you can purchase without putting details back in every time.

The steam store is a reputable online shop (with over 125 million active users!). For added piece of mine, just don't leave your CC info saved when making purchases.
