3. The account has no payment method linked (Something common with all the freeloader accounts redeeming Epic's free games around) the hijacker adds one and now has the proof of ownership to manage the account with support.
It's something Fortnite users have been suffering for a time. Main reason why Epic has been pushing protecting their accounts through 2FA.
To get free games on Epic you have to enable 2FA on the account. I thought they added that requirement like a year ago after a huge swath of hijackings occurred when people were onboarding due to the free games, and then immediately getting hijacked due to a plethora of issues like password reuse.
PS: I'm astonished they censored sensationalist spelling of "free" but not of "♥♥♥♥".
If I were in your place, I would "invoke" the customer protection organisation of my country, pay the fee and let them lose on them just for this insult on general principle.
Parallel I would hire a lawyer, to attack them from both sides for that insult. Money does no longer matter at that point. But that would just be me.
As third step I would make it very public. Maybe try to let some Gaming channel Youtuber report about that kind of behavior from them. That could concern us all in the future. This ♥♥♥♥♥ can always happen.
I mean that's only 'technically' true but practically not really
If you've not previously linked your account to all those dozen or so methods then you can't use them to log into your account. You'd only have them linked if you play speciifc games cross platform.
Im going to test it right now......
I just logged out and logged back in with my google accounts I never linked. As long as they have the same email. So you would have to lose your account password, email password, and everything that email is attached to. Hardest account to lose.
