How do you deal with neck pain during hours of play?
My office chair is not a gamer, despite having a backrest, it does not have a headrest, I keep my head looking forward during the game, but after a while of use, the back of my neck starts to hurt and I am forced to stop the game and step away from the PC for a while.

Rokid max ;)
I have no neck pain while playing.

I recommend you get out of the chair once in a while to go outside and get some exercise.
Go outside and take a walk.

The obvious question: WHY are you playing "for hours"?

Simple deep breathing exercises and really simple yoga stretches can bring quick relief.

Muscles and joints need water to stay flexible.
Certain food and drink can dehydrate you and can cause muscle inflammation.

Be aware that games are changing your brain chemistry. Addiction is possible.

I deally you want to put yourself in a position that doesn't lead to neck strain and pain.
Make sure you're not tilting your head down or up . You may need to adjust the position of your monitore some.

get your self a tens unit, electro stimulation unit , they are great muscle and work out support, use them to heal tight muscles or promote muscle and blood flow growth , also do lots of shoulder rolls and take a few minutes every hour to stretch an do push ups this will help develop neck muscles and increase flexibility, always stretch before an after gaming.

pushups.
Put your monitor higher. Not having to look down helps a lot against neck pain.

I bought a few things on Amazon. One is an electric powered neck massager that wraps around your elbows so you can use your arms to put more pressure on it, and it massages your neck/shoulders.

I also use a lumbar pillow on my gaming chair to keep my back cushioned and also reminds me to keep my posture up or else the pillow starts to get in a weird position and i have to readjust it which also reminds me to fix posture.

Do a bit of yoga before or in the middle of a long gaming session.

And lastly, I also have a foot massager which doesnt necessarily help the back but helps blood flow which keeps me awake and thinking about my health as I use it.
Better posture.

This is an ergonomics issue.
Go to the gym. Build up your muscles with the help of a medical instructor. That did help me fight my back pain. Better than anything else.

Get a descent chair. Place monitor and keyboard correctly.
