Best Current MMO on Steam?
There seems to be dozens of MMO's on steam. Some from 2006 era all the way to 2018.

Is there a single MMO that is popular with good rating but doesnt contain anime cat girls and cartoons?

Is there a single MMO that is not pay to win?

From decent research my conclusion is No. There is no MMOs without p2w or cartoon anime hentai fantasy cheese.

All i want is an experience similar to WOW specifically Vanilla or The Burning Crusade, without a monthly subscription, Without p2w gates, without starter packs that offer OP bonuses, without 5+ Dlcs that each cost $30+

I dont care if its Buy to Play or Free or has possibly 1-2 dlcs. I just want a borderline mature mmo without extremely greedy business practices with decent gameplay and community.

I was looking at Elder Scrolls Online or Neverwinter as the most appealing ones so far however i would like to know how bad the p2w elements are in these games? I see elder scrolls has an expansion now for another $40 which is fine as long as it doesnt contain other p2w elements ontop of this.

Sadly the only thing ive experienced with this set up was Vanilla WOW on a private server. Which i am now tired of after 3 years. It had no p2w, it was free with a acceptable population and im looking for anything similar to that experience. Which doesnt seem to exist.

ESO or Rift.

No pay to win in ESO and from what I remember rift is free from them as well.

Steam isn't the best place for MMOs at any rate

Well point me in the right direction then and offer me some other options. ESO seems decently populated and the only mmo on that list of top 100 played games on steam.

Rift has about 5 expansions totally nearly $200 as well as a optional monthly subscription Lol.

Guild Wars 2 has always been a go to for me.

Blade and soul was also decent from what I played.

Albion online is also pretty decent as well.

Basically I view mmo's in 3 area's. P2W (favours deep wallets), no real paying or cosmetics (favours the no lifer), and pay to progress faster. Pay to progress faster is an interesting development as it tries to create a balance where you can grind for everything or pay to alleviate some of the grind but can't buy direct power.

With that out of the way, I'd put Neverwinter in the pay to progress faster camp, Guild Wars 2 more in line with the no payment, and I'm not familiar with ESO to say, but it does seem more tuned towards pay to progress faster, but someone more familiar with it would have to say for sure.

I honestly can't think of any other MMO's that would meet what you want. It's a genre that frankly has slim pickings and has been in the decline for awhile for a wide variety of reasons.

No P2W, no anime cat girls, anything can be cartoon these days, wow basically cartoon to some people, so definition can vary to each individual what is cartoon, also it's F2P.

Guildwars 2 wars another, but there's a cat race in it, so I assume no cat girls of any kind.

Old school MMORPG.

So all these packages that are available for $15-50 are just to help noobies get a boost at start? Are all the items in said packages obtainable by grinding? How much do these packages help the people who buy them?

Ye im looking for something along the lines of No lifer lol i enjoy grinding. I just like when everyone is on the same page.

I understand that every single mmo out old and new have p2w elements. Its about finding the lesser ones such as cosmetics or XP boosts etc. However locked content and none cosmetics only obtainable by P2W is a No.

Yes the package just to help Noobs, far as I know you can get mostly everything free, and that there daily rewards that gives you in-game gems that cost money for free, so you can cumulate that overtime for free, there mounts so you can ride, or fly, you can fly pretty early game, I think around level 15 you find a mount you can tame to fly around, and more mounts later on.

No P2W. But to gain access to the rest of the game content you need to buy the expansions you gain better gear, and access to mounts in GW2.

Yeah guild Wars seems to be the only one that moderately fits the description i want. Ill play Path of Exile some day when im sick and tired of Diablo 2 and Grim dawn.

Thx for the other recs.

Is there anyone who currently plays Guild Wars or ESO or multiple MMos that can give some feedback on the progression and current state of up to date MMOs?

Everquests and lord of the rings and even dungeons and dragons online looked decent back in their day but they looked revamped and plagued by modern greedy trends that seems to have killed their player bases.
Aahzmandias Nov 18, 2018 @ 2:58pm
Final Fantasy XIV Reborn and ESO. All others are cashgrabs or worse, deadly boring. And don't buy them on Steam.
BossGalaga Nov 18, 2018 @ 8:06pm
I see it was already mentioned although not on Steam, Guild Wars 2. It's an awesome MMO, expansive world and story, constant updates, some limitations but no level caps on free accounts and upgrading to a core account is cheap if you purchase a GW2 pre-F2P key, or purchasing an expansion will automatically upgrade your account to core. It also features level scaling, so if you're a higher level character, you can still go back to lower level zones you haven't played yet and still get XP and item drops commiserate with your actual level. Most quests are completed in dynamic zones and are completed automatically instead of having to run back to a NPC.

It will inevitably get grindy once you reach a certain point but still tons of fun.

I play ESO since the beta and I can assure you that its not pay2win at all. There is a cashshop but its only cosmetic. Yes there are lootboxes you can buy but again, only cosmetic stuff. And everything is account wide.
The sub is optional but it has nice features. You get the sub price back in ingame currency, a craftingbag for all materials with 2 billion(!!) places, double the bankaccount and 10% more gold and xp (which isnt really relevant) and you can access all dlcs for free as long as youre subbed (the dlcs, not the expansions)
As for the gameplay, if you love good stories in an mmo, ESO offers that. Everything is voiced and even the sidequests have great storytelling. It will take you a lot of time to discover everything. Also you can solo trough the story and maxlevel youre not forced to group up.
Theres is a pvp area and there are also battlegrounds.
Pve offers easy dungeons, hard ones, raids and trials.
Crafting is....not the best imo its boring but you can make good money out of it. Also you can craft a lot of the best armor sets or buy them from crafters so if you dont like running the same dungeon for months for drops its great.
The combat system is an action system and i like it, you can make your character how you want, every class can be everything. And since the game is easy in the open world you can run with every build you like and still solo it.
A minus is that you have two skillbars with 5 skills and an ultimate each. You can switch the skills in those bars any time whwn youre out of combat but if you love skillbars like in wow it could get borinh.
The community is nice and mature mostly. There are a lot of "older" players.
In the endgame you can do mentioned raids etc, run in pvp, become a master fisher, do tons of different dailies or get into the intense housing system - there are tons of different houses and hundreds of furnitures you can craft and collect. Can only recommend the game.
