what do you think the account level means....
I believe you need a total of 25 games to get 200XP on the Game Collector badge; I don't know how many people might have that. Level 3 on the Game Collectors badge alone will need 85 games, AFAICS.
You will also get 100XP for every 2 years on Steam, so your level will grow automatically. In terms of levels, that works in addition to the Game Collector -- so, for example, you could get 50XP from being on Steam for 1 year, and 150 XP from having 10 games to reach level 2,
Regardless, the main source of XP is "community stuff", which is worthless from a gameplay perspective; there are probably a lot of Steam users that don't care about that at all.
Only if you don't wish to talk about steam levels, however this thread is apparently about wanting to talk about steam levels. Therefore it's relevant to this thread. It's weird someone has to point out the obvious though.
Basically if all you do is get ranks from being a member x number of years you wouldn't have much.
Other than that you have to figure out how to rank it up... "normal" people don't do that.
Only us broken people ha ha ha.
For those who somehow don't know about this, it was an exploit event where you could get 100XP for each in-game achievement.
So, the Grand Prix exploit event allowed someone using the "right" game to easily get $100 worth (badge crafting) of XP for only $1. Some people managed an even greater degree of exploitation "participation" than that.
This means that you'll find people with a 500 Steam level who only paid $30 for it thanks to the Grand Prix, but you'll also see people with a 300 Steam level who've paid $500 for it because they never exploited joined in on the Grand Prix.
I wasn't around in 2019. I only have my Steam level due to crafting badges, and it's cost a bucket, all for very little purpose other than getting the odd Booster drop. Very little purpose at all.
TL;DR: The 2019 Grand Prix event nullified any prestige that a high level might have, so don't fixate on it unless you want booster drops (which aren't worth it anyway).
