Why are CoD Games so Expensive?
I missed the old days where I played Zombies in BO2 on my PS3, so I decided to buy a brand new copy of this awesome game ;)

Excuse me? 30€ for a game released freaking decades ago? Thats a Big No No for you Activision...

What the hell happened to Old CoD games? Why are they so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ expensive????

Because Activision-Blizzard wants it that price. It used to go on sale for 19.79€ but they go a few years between having it on sale for 19.79€ and 29.99€. https://steamdb.info/app/202970/

The game is just as good as it was then. You said so yourself by wanting to buy it.

Then don't buy it.

In the end the developer/publishers decides what they think is a good price to sell at and you as a consumer decide whether it's a good price to pay. And if you don't want to pay that price, that's ok. Doesn't mean the developer/publisher has to lower the price.

The price for the game is very cheap for me, but my financial situation is likely quite different than yours.

It came out nine years ago... not "decades", not even one decade.

Not everyone has the same financial situation as you.

You will have to ask them, but my take on all of this:

They sell more if they are more expensive. If you make something appear very cheap, people that are browsing, assume it is not worth it. Many people simply look at the price, and they see a game that is 0.79 cents, and automatically assume it's a low quality product, and they won't even touch it. But if you make it appear expensive, people think: "Hey, this may be worth it, because look how expensive it is."

Its a combo of that and Activisions heavy focus on impressing investors with big numbers for the latest release and if you discount the older versions too much people might actually buy and play those enough to not want the new one and that makes it look like they aren't doing a good enough job of milking the cash cows.

Because Activision is known for being a greedy company. CoD Black Ops II is from 2012 and when it isn't on sale, it's still full price!

Well the world is changing. The industry is still evolving. The idea that games perpetually lose value and need to be priced lower and lower is dying, because digital distribution means you don't need to clear out inventory in the bargain bin. Some people expect that trend to continue, but there's no reason it has to.

Upside is a lot of games get a lot of attention for years after launch, so it's not like we're not getting nothing for this tradeoff.
