Speaking as a fellow GT 1030 2gb.
Will run just fine
Mirror’s Edge Catalyst
What games have you knocked out so far with the card that you've enjoyed?
Personally I would stick to games released around the same fidelity as Borderlands 2 maybe, but maybe not much further than that. That game is hardly new but that depends on what your definition of "newer" games is.
Although I might also be cutting the GT 1030 a bit short, I'm mostly thinking about games where you can play at 1080p comfortably.
EDIT: If you are a fan of racing games, you could try Forza Horizon 5. it will probably run at the lower presets:

I already played most older games (had good card but sold it), but i just dont know much about newer lesser known indie or 2d games.
It's getting rapidly more popular, but otherwise seems to fit your mention:

There is a thread discussing performance issues on a GT 740M but surely the GT 1030 might be able to pull it off a bit better:

I have a gt 1030 and use lossless scaling to render the games in 720P and scale it up to 1080P , it's often get me up to 10 to 25 more fps in a lot's of games compared to playing in native 1080P.
if you want an older game with unique graphics (without pale and brown filtered graphics) there's dishonored 1, bioshock infinite etc (as those game are just using baked lighting, a smart move ngl and their graphics is more cartoony).
dishonored example is more oily, reflecting victorian era art with some vibe of orwellian. same goes to bioshock infinite
there's probably more game like that
tldr: i didn't read your description but it still hold up i swear
