Playing online with my kids
Can anyone recommend games I can play with my 8year old and 12 year old kids.

New to multiplayer games, basically wanna play with them since they enjoy it so much.

I tried RD2 with my 12 year old but we can't seem to workout how.

1. Get everybody an own license of the game
2. Add each other in Steam/Rockstar launcher
3. Start the game
4. One of you (you) invites all the others into their lobby

Zero clue why you think a 18+ rated game is suitable for a 12 year old.

Would be nice to know the wished genres but overall I would suggest:

This game has 100s great community modes like deathrace, deathrun, zombies, soccer where you can do a lot funny things + it's free. I had a lot fun with my friends. New
Zombies mod is amazing. So realistic

Surfing is so relaxing and fun too

... have you even read how old their kids are?

The same age as your average CS-Player.

some cartoon violence but a very simple and addicting coop game

Fall Guys, fun game very cute.

Portal coop, clever thinking.

csgo is the best mp online choice. this game can offer so sooo many great things
A lot on offer? Yes. Best? That's a matter of taste. When it comes to competitive multiplayer, TF2 or Quake Live are fantastic games. When it comes to cooperative multiplayer, CSGO doesn't even offer that.

i like zombies and deathrace community mods. it's really fun to play with 50-60 players on the same server. it's very popular in asia
surfing is a great thing too. it's so relaxing
deathrun probably the best thing in csgo. i had a lot fun with my friends

tf2 can not offer those things. it's just my opinion. :KorwinRainbow: every player has their own taste and preference :spherical_scenery_of_creation: the best thing about csgo, that u don't need to kill other players if you want to have fun :Warechu_VII:
tf2 has all the things you mentioned

from my compt. / wingman / offc. valve casual / dm / co-op experiences, more than 70% players were 10-13 yrs old. u can check their ages from their voices / their mic

seems u've never played csgo or maybe you are playing without mic

Just because the playerbase is that young doesn't mean that it's good to recommend a shooter to a kid?

+ and yes, kids would love this game
- It's still violent especially for his 8yo kid
- simply having an online multiplayer can't really seen as pros since there are hundreds of well made local multiplayer games
- Not everyone is a fan of community mods, they have limitations and often really wacky and crudely made.
- Kids could hate it when they're keep getting headshotted within a matter of seconds and forced to spectate for an entire round afterwards

There's other alternative: racing games from Trackmania: https://store.steampowered.com/sale/trackmania/
This is the first time i'm seeing someone recommending Trackmania as the alternative to CSGO,
but it is nonetheless great game, my brother and i used to make and share tracks, sometimes near impossible ones to compare our skills. but i'd rather recommend United Forever instead of its sequel.

"... have you even read how old their kids are?"

In my opinion an 8 and 12yo "kid" can play those, only if the parent wants, ofc.
You dont have to be +18 to play CS:GO lmao not even that good. Even some anime gore novel could be way more inappropiate than planting/defusing a bomb. An inappropiate game for example could be GTFO (that this is the best multiplayer game I ever played). Anyways.

Right now there's a perfect sale for fighter games you can try those.

My fav game is ARK and its multiplayer kinda a big game tho. If you dont Dinosaurs don't even take a look :)

or

https://store.steampowered.com/app/728880/Overcooked_2/

this is way too fun but difficult at the same time :D

I saw some comments about Stardew Valley, I played that like more than 100 hours and FOR ME it gets way too repetitive and slow. I linked Terraria, way more stuff to do. Not similar games. Stardew is more "farm" terraria is more "survival"

https://store.steampowered.com/app/105600/Terraria/

Also Raft, It can be repetitive at the start but after it its so fun.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/648800/Raft/

The only one I can recommend that is so good its ARK, I am dont know your kids game likes tho, for example if I only knew their type of games It would be easier. I did play all these games and I am just giving a few suggestions of the best games I played multiplayer, this is my opinion tho. Since someone said "watch their age" I didnt really pick any FPS >.>

But yeah ARK, Its so fun, and the difficulty can be changed to easy to way too hard. Also you have to kill Dinosaur to get meat and you can see 1% blood, and you can get klled by Dinosaur ofc. I dont know if that will be the reason of not trying it >.>

Edit. If they like car games. OFC and without thinking.
