What methods have you tried. You know, so we're not forced to repeat what you've tried and then have you respond "I already tried that"

Like, reinstall Steam... maybe you tried it, maybe you didn't, how am I to know?

Re-installing steam works but I can't keep doing that because of updates

I've tried to disable DEP for steam but windows keeps saying it's not allowed for this type of application

I've also uninstalled and re-installed Microsoft visual studio

Is this for a specific game or specific software? Or is this *every game* you try on steam?

No, but when I launch steam itself
Not the games but without steam, how will my games launch?

This happens every time you start Steam ?

It could be caused by a ton of things - dying drive, antivirus deleting/quarantining steam files, malware infecting Steam files, software / group policy.. just to name a few. you mention being unable to disable DEP for steam - what about disabling it globally ? is this a work / school PC ?
