Looking for a Cooperative Zombie Survival Game.

I've recently got a zombie itch again, and I was thinking about trying to find a good zombie game with an open-world. However, from what I know most of them are kill on sight murder fests which I'm not really into. Are there are games that encourage players to work together, or have a community that prioritizes that instead of making the game a battle royale with zombies?

Open world? Do you really want it for a zombie game? Dying light or Dead Island then. But I would recommend Zombie Army Trilogy (not an open world game though). It is very fun, especially on highest difficulties. Don't know if lots of people play it nowadays, it is not so popular.

Also I recommend you No More Room In Hell, its free-to-play. It focuses on realism, and players must work together to complete objectives and survive.

The whole focus is on working together to build a base and fend of the zombie hordes that attack every 7th day.
Very few people engange in sensless PvP since there is zero benefit for it.

I've played No More Room in Hell, and I really enjoy it. Though I'm looking for something else. I like the idea of survivors working together to try to build a safe haven, going on scavenging missions together, interacting with other groups, stuff like that, though everything I've seen is just solo bandits running around.

Although Mist Survival is Singleplayer, it's open-world (as far as I can tell)

Unturned is also notable (for me) when it comes to open-world zombie survival, but I'm pretty sure there's a lot of PVP and Kill on Sight. (at least there's PVE servers & singleplayer though)
