If so, give me your personal recommendations. If it's more niche but has good gameplay and a good new game + mechanic, those are bonus points.

You can also consider the Atelier Ryza games, they have a very unique approach than most other RPGs as it's very laid back rather than focusing on the "fight to save the world from a world ending scenario" kinda thing you see in most games.

Anything with strength based systems that focus on making you better, faster, stronger all count: So anything from Resident Evil Village (Which I own) to Bastion, to Valkyria Chronicles, to Biomutant also falls into the category of "rpg".
And In my opinion; biomutant is BETTER than breath of the wild. Biomutant saw the blank slate breath of the wild was and one upped it.

Bloodstained, Nier, Gunvolt (not rly but it has a bunch of upgrading and leveling).

Going to throw Death Stranding at you too, delivery simulator with no ng+, but you can keep playing. Has good upgrade systems and all that, maybe wait for deep sale or the new version to come to steam though.

(REALLY people, Resident Evil is an RPG now xD? At least try to list games that have something in common with actual RPGs. That guy who said Gunvolt....good taste but thats a Megaman-style action platformer)
