“Steam Support Assistance” Discord
Hello, I just met someone on Discord who told me that he convinced his friends to report me and then said that it’s a mistake and ask me to revoke the report.

Then, I met “Steam Support Assistance”. I believe any real Steam Support does not use Discord.

I’m having a bad feeling about this as I got scammed from so-called “Valve/Steam employee” around last year and lost hundreds of dollars and TF2 cosmetics and taunts.

It's a scam obviously, steam support will not contact you on discord

“Steam Support Assistance” claimed that it’s not, and someone who “falsely reported” me said that “there are many people trying to impersonate on Discord”.

That’s what I thought. Looks like I’m going to be just fine.

Recent update. I blocked both “Steam Support Assistance” and someone who “reported me”. Hopefully, I’m going to stay away from being scammed.

Why should Valve, a multi-billion-dollar heavy company use Discord for their support?

Use the search in discussions for "accidentally reported", hundreds of scamthreads going back years.
Details change but the method does not.

Even Alden tried warning people when they were impersonating him...

The scammer basically sends you the link to a real employee Steam account to lure you in further. Ignore that part of the scammers post.

Someone working for Steam / Valve will not contact via discord or another similar platform.

Discord is also used very commonly by people impersonating Steam / Valve Staff.

I wish other companies would not use discord, linked in facebook, twitter, google or microsoft teams... because it'd be really nice if I could just say that any company using some other companies product for support purposes is a scam.

I don't even know what a true steam support resource even looks like when considering the lack of interaction on fhe forums from any such entities. Not that I've seen, anyway.

Their lack of regular involvement from at least this user's perspective makes it all the more reasonable to believe they're doing that support somewhere else.

Mostly here, if someone posts about steam client issues, there's a lot of negative reaction and often animosity thrown at the poster, which is not what you'd expect a support person to do.

The best I could find about "who is legit steam/valve support" is from this link, which I find to be frankly astonishing that a regular user had to piece this together to figure out who isn't trying defraud them for real.

It boils down to: there are no steam admins posting anywhere. which is not very obvious to people if the impersonation of a steam/vavle employee is a popular pastime amongst the bad guys out there. I mean, it's not like the real deal ever challenges them to a duel or something.

"support assistance", I wonder how stupid scammers think people are. In the other hand, yes, they are.

You don't need to check credibility as it's an obvious scam. Report to Discord and ignore the person. There is absolutely no reason to engage with these people.

Just because someone has an icon they've found on Google images doesn't make them real. Steam Support do not conduct their business on Discord.

Steam DOES NOT have a presence of any kind on Discord, so it's a scam, as the entire rest of the thread has told the OP.

I mean its common sense
Its kinda obvious tbh,if they are 'Steam support' why would they contact u using different platform?

Its like someone from 'microsoft support' call u and ask to go to McDonalds to fix ur windows problem
Its just dont make any sense

Damn, this nearly got me. I got spooked when I got a notification for changing my credentials came in and then they failed to provide adequate evidence that they were real valve employees.(only giving publicly available info, etc)
