…Granted the second point is debatable, as it's pretty much the plot of Snatcher except with AI instead of bioweapons, corporations instead of the Soviet Union, and also there is literally a character named ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
IIRC doesn’t have any romantic threads in it.

Whatever romantic expression would be very minor background elements.

(may toe too close to providing romantic angles, but they should largely be avoidable if one wishes)
He is a Loner.
Just story-based games in-general that are published solely on Nintendo platforms.
So, Pokemon, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Pikmin... almost all of these have fairly involved stories & no romance for each installment to the series.
Some let you do relationships with party members, but that's often completely optional and not part of the story. Like I generally ignore the guys for this.
... or play a game that's got none of those. The Risen series, while being good RPGs,don't involve "romance" at all. Then there's games like Doom Eternal which are as asexual as things can get (unless you get turned on by shoving your sword into some demon's guts). Then there's Command & Conquer (no sexuality involved unless you wanna drool over a Jane Bond).
If you want to have gay "romance", there's a couple. Technomancer is the first coming to my mind.
This ^
I'd say far more games have no or optional romance options than it being a forced part of the story.
It may help if you explain what kind of games you are playing where this is a problem and what genre of games you want to play OP, give some examples.

This game is famous for its gay overtones but nothing happens and there's no obvious relationship...it's complicated...

I could do a list but it would go on for pages.
