My account has been banned from gifting

Hi. My account is comparatively new. After opening this account, i bought two or three games, and also sent some games as gifts to a couple of friends. But a few days ago we wanted to play fall guys together and i bought steam wallet code and tried to gift the game to one of my friends and it showed an error. So i contacted Steam support, and they just replied that my activity led them to assume that i am reselling games. Like whaaaaaaaaaaatttt? What's worse is that they don't reply any more. I asked them what's the specific reason for them to ban me from gifting and their only reason is that they assumed. I don't know if i have broken any t&c and in the last ticket i opened i asked them what causes this and they simply closed the ticket without even replying!!!! What has happened to steam support? I loaded around 1000 ars for all of us, and now i can't do anything with it!! My point is before putting any restriction for such small issues, can i expect at least a warning of some sort?

So i would like to warn my fellow gamers that be careful when gifting games to your friends. You might face the same problem as me and steam support won't do anything about it

How disappointing it must have been. This is the first I heard of restricted gifting. Perhaps it's because your account is new.

We face many draconian security measures because of scammers and money laundering regulations, people trying to game the system.

If you have purchased the code directly on Steam and have not used the funds, they will provide a refund.

You may request a refund for Steam Wallet funds within fourteen days of purchase if they were purchased on Steam and if you have not used any of those funds."

Plus it may have to do with the fact you are from Argentina, where people have been using the regional pricing to get cheaper games.

Maybe it has something to do with that regional pricing error that made Sony Vegas Pro 18 cost only 0.14 USD cents in Argentina while it should be over 400.

I drop tons of money during sales gifting games to friends. Been doing that for years. No warnings. You're obviously doing something that is raising an alarm with Steam.

You were probably blocked by an automated system, that considered your behavior to be similar to commercial use.

Just create another ticket about the error you get, keep it short. If there was no commercial activity from your side, you're likely to get the block lifted by support

This might be a stretch but OP’s username has “bd” in it which is also Bangladesh’s website url. I mean something like “uk” for the United Kingdom (amazon.co.uk).

My money is on OP region hopping to Argentina before the new restrictions. I’m also betting OP knows exactly why he has been restricted from gifting.

That's the precise thing that got snipped HARD last month - to prevent resales, 'trading' for goods, and avoiding local currency issues.

They have good reason to prevent these things. If beautiful your area has a crappy currency that is absolutely not Steam's fault.

If I had to take a wild guess why your account was tradebanned for reselling, it might have something to do with the fact that you have a Facebook page and a Discord channel, under the same name "ciphergamingbd" where you literally advertise that you resell games and Steam wallet codes.

Hah! So the suspicious activity detected by Steam is correct. I noticed the ars belatedly, then figured OP should just do the refund. Ppl will always find a way. Kinda sad for those who genuinely have a legit reason and now have to wait for Steam to help them.

Valve have to think globally. They have to handle the dozens of wallet partners with legal agreements and regional regulations etc.

I wonder about those Russian secondary accounts. After a year, they will just have a limited account until they can make a payment using Russian methods, meanwhile they continue as they are now.
