Try asking in the game forum https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/#games
Start the game with its exe.
What error do you get?

this is the error message i get when i launch the game through Steam: iw5sp.exe file error

i don't have the game installed on my PC only through stream but i do have the disks some place.

would i be better to uninstall the game and re-install it?
In the games folder in steamapps common, click the exe

OK i tried that, using the exe file in the steamapps and even though steam is running i get this error message:

"Steam must be running to play this game"

Isn't IW5SP an external client anyway? If so, you're best off asking for support their end.

Right click on game > select properties > Local files > Verify Integrity of Game Files

Hi Muppet among Puppets,

i turned off my anti virus and re did the verifying thing for both single and multiplayer versions of MW3

hopefully the image below shows the folder that the troublesome file is in

What happens if you move that exe out of the folder and verify files with steam then?
Does the new one run?

Did the file run before? Its old, so i am not sure what changed in between.
