Lookin for Game Suggestions For My Father
Please help me out. Looking for suggestions of what to get my father.

My dad's getting up there in age (70s) and his reaction time with certain games has slowed down, so games like Assassin's Creed, games with QTE's, and even Lemmings ripoffs are out. He did okay with Thomas was Alone, other puzzle games, and I know he likes card games like Magic and Sanctum.

He also recently dove through the whole Deponia series and loved the absolute crap out of it. So any Point&Click games that are on the comedic side would be awesome suggestions.

I already looked through google/steam at similar threads and suggestions like AC, Fallout, and super simple games like Bejeweled weren't cutting it. He likes to think, he just can't react quickly anymore.

Huge thanks for any help! :D :lunchtime::LeShopkeeper::cleanfloppy:

Good suggestions again. Listed.

Thanks for the heads up, Callahan420. Made a note of it and will check the youtube. I end up playing a good chunk of these games first before I get them for him to avoid epileptic triggers for safety measures (and to give him hints if he gets majorly stuck on the side).

Right now he's got:

- The Daedallic point&click bundle with all the Deponias and a bunch of other games. Completed Deponias and Whispered World, on Night of the Rabbit now.
- Sherlock Holmes and the Hound of the Baskervilles game
- Plastris - Completed
- Day of the Tentacle - Completed
- The first Sam and Max - Completed
- The first Monkey Island - Completed?
- The first few Fallout games - Gave Up on Them
- Splendor - Played the crap out of it
- the Dresden Files Cooperative Cardgame
- Thomas was Alone - Completed
- Kelvin and the Infamous Machine - Completed
- Terraforming Mars
- Kings Quest 2015 remake
- Thimbleweed Park

- Galactic Civ 2 - Beat it in the past, can't play it anymore. Loved it
- Evil Genius - Beat it in the past, can't play it anymore. Loved it
- Spore - Played in the past, gave up towards the end.
- 11th Hour and 7th Guest - Beat it in the past.

And then the other games on this thread I've got all queued up on my own wishlist and will go through them. Currently playing Cube Escape: Paradox. And he's currently stuck on Night of the Rabbit (Daedellic game). Likely going to play the really short puzzle games recommended here next and the jigsaw one because they're cheap and quick, and he wants less depressing games this week. Can't begin to overstate how much he liked the Deponia games.

TLDR: Good suggestions so far, keep em coming! :necroheart: :fhappy:

Double update: Got SuperBoxMan, Klocki, Zenge, My Jigsaw Adventures - Roads of Life, and the Agatha Christie - ABC Murders game to try out ahead of getting them for him.

Just a FYI Stories Untold has a orb that strobes a bright light at least 4-5 times during the game. I suggest watching a video of it to see what it is.

edit: added video link.

Thank you for the correction. My mistake, i am sorry.

No wonder. Deponia has an amazing sense of humor.

Also get into gardening, light sculpture, digital painting, writing courses... Steam should be a small measure of a man's life. Most games are a time waste. You won't find many James Joyces' here and it's been like 30 years.

KAMI and LYNE are smart games. Slow, steady, thoughtful but wonderful for the mind.
Also, 70 years old in 2020 isn't really that old. Remind him of this. His wings are just sort of dusty is all.

Not to worry. He plays every reed and woodwind instrument out there in more than one concert band, arranges/organizes music compositions, goes to conventions to play board games, and dabbles in learning coding, politics, and reading many books on the side. Gaming isn't his only hobby. It's just the prime one while he's stuck unable to go anywhere during quarantine. That and nonstop clarinet while he's waiting for the state to allow gatherings again. These games are to stay cabin madness :shadeknight:

Oh! And I now have both Kami (Edit, wait, do you mean Kamiko? I can't find Kami kami) and Lyne on the list. Thanks! :momocat:

You might want to have a look at Age of Empires, Definitive Edition. This is a twenty year old strategy game with updated graphics. You don't need to be fast on a keyboard and you can always change the speed settings if required. This is the only computer game that I ever play.

Puzzle Agent 1 & 2. Didn't pay attn to strobing effects, so you might have to check the game. But yea, that game has a unique sense of humour, it surprised me because it looks like a kid's game. 2 is a little anti-climatic, 1 was marvelous. But you need both :)
