What are the best games that make extensive use of voxels?

I'm fascinated by this voxel stuff, it's really "different" sometimes. Vangers, for example, very "different" and cool. What games would you say are the best ones that make extensive use of that? Or game.

Well, Perimeter 1-2 are from the creators of Vangers and also use voxel engine.

Tiberium Sun and Red Alert 2 use voxels for vehicle models. RA2 still looks and plays great today, TS didn't age so well but it's free.

Not on Steam and a bit pricey if you can't find it on sale.

Many of the voxel-based games on Steam are f2p cash shop trash, asset flip trading card games which are now mostly a relic since Steam's new policy on trading cards or abandoned Early Access games. Fair warning.

Well, Voxatron was actually released in 2011 so...it suffers from some of those same EA issues and it's last update was Dec. 2015. Still a great game even though it's technically an Alpha but I wouldn't pay 19.99 for it. I got it on sale in a HumbleBundle myself.

So you would probably call this abandoned too but IMO it's one of the good abandoned voxel games. Still...abandoned but even in it's technically abandoned state, still a lot better than a lot of EA launch games I've seen.

Most of the voxel games on Steam are like this...but instead of just being abandoned are also terrible games that were mostly made for the purposes of cash grab or trading card exploitation.

Do yourself a favor, read the negative reviews for any voxel-based games on Steam. Look for stuff like how active the developer is and when the last time made any meaningful updates to the game.

I do check negative reviews and 99% of the time I end up deciding that it's probably not worth it. Frustrating. Yeah it looks like as far as voxel stuff goes, there isn't anything on Steam from the past decade that's really good or that I'm interested in (too strategic / technical). But also outside of steam, it looks like Voxatron may be the most ambitious voxel-based thing, but it's an abandoned alpha version, too bad. If you happen to find anything else let me know. Thanks.
