forgot email address & forgot password

Hi

I have lost access to a old email/steam account of mine with Rome Total War 2 on it and having some real issues contacting steam to try and recover the account and said game.

~i have attempted to change my password but only have the option of via email.
I have also found it extremely difficult to contact anybody at steam to try and resolve this issue for me.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Bumping is against the rules.

The guide covers lack of email address or phone number, you don't need either to initiate the recovery.

There is no extra help to get, follow the guide and recover your account.

Sorry new to the forum.

I have entered my account name and it's come up saying. "Sorry, we were unable to find an account name that matched your search."

How is it possible to contact steam support team direct?
I have the account on my friends list and can see the account name.

Support is contacted through the support pages, there is no "direct" contact.

That's not the account name you see, but the profile name. Account name is the one you use to log in.
If you also forgot your account name, you have nothing to initiate the recovery.

Blast! thank you for your help I guess I will be dismantling a broken pc for the hard drive which has a notepad file with login details.If it was possible to speak with the support team I would be able to prove ownership of the account even with little details.

As said, not possible to speak to support other than the support pages.

You can only provide proof of ownership by going through the recovery proces. Keep in mind that knowing your account name is one of the first requirements to prove ownership. ;)

the name in my friends list is what i use for 95% of my online logins and I've suprised myself by not doing it as my account name.
I will be having words with my past self for using different usernames and emails
