Question about using Discord (roles and permissions)

Hi all. Is anyone familiar with running a Discord server? My question is about roles and permissions. I created a Discord server for one of the games I play. I have created 3 different 'roles' for the users, (including a top-level one for myself, that has all administrative permissions enabled). I would like to give one of the other two roles some limited administrative permissions - including the ability to assign roles to newcomers. However, I am worried that I would be putting my top-level role at risk... If I give one of the roles the ability to change the roles of server users, does that mean they could also change MY role? Or is it impossible for anyone other than the server creator (me) to change my role? Many thanks.

I run two discord servers. One for my guild on Shop Titans. I also run a community Shop Titans Discord Server. I have multiple roles set up on each. On the community server, i have a place for players to request roles. If I set a player to Leader... they can only set other players to officer or member. If they set someone to officer or member, only an officer can set a player to member. So it works much like it does in the game.

To test certain things worked the way I wanted it to, it was a good idea to set up an alt account with little to no permissions to do anything. That way i could set it a role, then log in with it to poke around and make sure it was working the way i wanted it to.

Thanks for the replies. So, did you have to configure it, so that they cannot change your role, ...or is that the default situation? In my case, I created a Role for myself, with all permissions enabled. Perhaps that was unnecessary, if the server creator has all permissions enabled by default? (Without a role, no-one would be able to change my role, right?) The only reason I created a special role for myself (IIRC) was so that I could have my name show up in a different colour from that of other users (for easy identification).

Sorry; I am still unclear about some of Discord's mechanics.
