How to properly report a racist behavior?
A friend of mine recently had encountered a player in a CSGO match that was constantly offending his team using racist slurs and being verbally aggressive, harassing the team. He said it made the experience really bad for him and tried to report the player, but he could not find the right channels to do so.
Could someone help me out by showing any channel that i could reporting this player other than the tools in csgo(i dont play csgo a lot so i am not familiar with them), something like a steam community tool, that mods and eventually other member of the community could see?

Thanks

Mods or support can not see that type of thing in game. That is beyond their capabilities.

If the user does this outside of the game, you can report them through their profile.

CS:GO also has a reporting system in the game which you can use to report cheaters and toxic players. Use that as well.

muting is your quickest solution for these losers

Well people should try to warn that person politely first. In fact people are responsible for that person’s behavior and consequences and punishment if they don’t. There are several ways to warn people who don’t know better. Quit the game, find another server, text chat, or voice the bitterness. If this is not done, then the people being involved in the bad behavior will be used to protect that individual, until further notice. It’s just what happens.

Someone who is spouting racial slurs in a game does not need a warning. They already know better. The best thing to do is mute/ignore them and use the in-game reporting tools. Telling them that you're reporting them will only invite retaliation.

Thank you guys, i appreciate the help. I know that mute and ignore might prevent things from escalate, but i was thinking about a way to report him so other members of the community or other players of said game do not come across such player. And i agree with BossGalaga, i don't believe toxic players like the one my friend encountered deserves a warning, because it is an unacceptable behavior in any other game and irl, and they should know better. Heated gamer moments does not grant you free pass to be racist or toxic towards other players, there are no excuses.
Once again thank you all for the help, i already used the profile reporting tool and will tell my friend to rely on the csgo reporting options.

This happened to me aswell today so part the way through the game I started recording them with shadowplay so that I have hard evidence for it. I have reported all the people being racist and homophobic and told Steam that I have video proof so hopefully if they see it and are able to see the video proof the can take harder action.

In CS:GO? Mute them in game.

I know I could have but it was funny listening to them saying the insults of a 10 year old and me knowing that I have hard proof

That's how you deal with them in CS:GO. Mute them. The Communication Penalty was created just for this.

You mean pointless proof. They use the in game reports tied to the game the reports come from to make their decision.
