SUPER IMPORTANT SCAM
Please help, a steam support agent is contacting me through quickchat saying if i do not show her my purchase history my account will be permanently deleted. The only reason i believe it could be legit is that the chat is coming up in bubbles rather than the usual format, I need help please! What can i do?

Yeah sorry, just meant normal chat, don't know why i called it quick chat, and the text appears with a curved rectangular border around it, similar to a text message or facebook

You mean like this?

It's done by
text
Yeah cinedine i think you've got it!

Yeah you'd be right, however I was worried that they were threatening the deletion because they thought I was trying to cover it all up, very scary to be honest, I still don't understand how they managed to change the format of the quick chat, anyway, it's all good now, thanks for the tips/logic!

It's scary because scams generally come down to fear or greed. Scaring someone to act against their best interests, or enticing them to do so with greed. The only thing you really need to understand is that if there's a component of fear or greed to it, there's almost certainly BS afoot.

Absolutely, the fear for me was the time limit set on the deletion of my account!

Bait, story, steps

Also had an incident like this. Blocked and reported the fake support guy, blocked the friend who had accidentally reported me. Thank god this was here, or I would've sent my purchase history and other things.

Scammers usually do, for some reason.
Sometimes its a case of english not being their first language sometimes its a deliberate attempt to avoid wasting time on people calm and wary enough to spot the scam by giving them something obvious to notice and get rid of them quickly.

You do realize you're not the sole person on the platform using steam support and that many are the gullible type who have also fallen for this blatantly obvious scheme and have to get control of their accounts back?
