Or if you fancy another good more modern FInal Fantasy game with semi-turn based combat you should check out Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age. I had a lot of fun with that one
-For turnbased and the like, even though not very anime, there is Expeditions: Conquistador. Neat game with alot of customizability, but rather short.
-Another game, from top of my head, is first two Disgaea games. They have a decent community build up around them along with some mod support for custom maps, characters, and higher rez sprites.
Let me see if I can suggest anything else, what other RPG have you played and enjoyed beside Final Fantasy and Divinity, OP?
Edit: Oh man, how did I forget this stuff.
-Shadowrun series: namely dragonfall and hong kong, if you're weeb like me you can set custom portraits
-Valkyria Chronicles: Another short, but solid, game with a unique art style. The fourth game is also coming out soon.
If you're worried about the first game being old, Trails in the Sky is perfectly serviceable and has had high-res textures and other quality-of-life features added to it over the years, making the present PC version basically the definitive version. It's also been updated to work well with modern computers/OSes, and XSEED's tech support is quite diligent.
If you want, you can also start with the more recent Trails of Cold Steel, since it begins a separate story, albeit one that takes place after the Sky trilogy, in the same setting. (Besides, the duology between the Sky and Cold Steel subseries hasn't been translated yet, anyway...)
I still haven't touched that game in part because I haven't decided whether I want to deal with it. It was sorta unfortunately gifted to me by a friend once, before I knew of this problem, but I've since heard that I need to have both Steam and Uplay running to play it, so I'm kinda ehhh on that.
EARTHLOCK
Shadowrun: Dragonfall
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky
Yeah it does unfortunately. But it's a wonderful game - so that'll take the edge off. It's kind of like getting ice cream after having your tonsils taken out.
Anyhow, the Trails games are sold on GOG, Humble Store (DRM-free + Steam key), and Steam, so you can wishlist in all three places and see which one gets discounted first. Cheapest price so far I recall is $9.99 (-50%).
FWIW, the Sky games do have fantasy magic and monsters but have it with some steampunk-like elements. For a more stereotypical swords-and-sorcery type of thing you might want to check out the early Final Fantasy games, and maybe Dragon Quest, as well as other games I'm blanking on at the moment (I wanna Pier Solar, but I haven't played that yet myself, but it looks nice). (I would say the Tales series except that's got brawler action, and Valkyria Chronicles except that's more SRPG with TPS elements.)
Oh hey, I totally forgot, GOG is doing a sale right now, on the Trails games:

Seems like the second game's also been down to $14.99 on GOG (also -50%). No need to buy them at the same time though -- you can always hold onto your save file and then transfer it when you pick up the second game.
