The embedded picture quality was terrible, blurry. Whereas actually clicking the link opens a beautiful 1MB png file and looks perfect. So I googled how to post a link in steam chat without auto-preview and here we are.
/ LINK URL
/ example.com
There is an option on steam to disable previews , But actually, SOME things you do want others to preview while others you don't.
If the guys at Valve had half a brain, They could have detected in chat when you are pasting / writing a link and allow you click it and mark it "For preview" BEFORE you SEND IT.
But that's too much for our friends in california, It requires a few brain cells.

B.)Link should get underlined by the chat.
C.)Putting your cursor on the underlined link will allow you to left mouse button click it.
D.)Clicking the link will toggle an option to enable / disable link's preview before SENDING IT.
* A preview icon should be appended when preview is toggled on / off
