With the new library, what categories do you use to sort your Steam library?

I usually just don't, and rely on my taskbar 'recently played', but when the event came up for it, I decided why not, I'll put the relevant games that have gone into my fanfic writing into their own category: Repurposed.

It's got all the Half Life games, Portals, FEAR games, Bioshock, and maybe something else I can't remember.

Couldn't really think of anything else I need to categorize, since I know what I own and decide to play what I want based on mood, it's not that hard to find stuff I want to play again, but it's actually a nice little feature.

I guess I just have some hardcore OCD, you have as many games as I do. How do you sort through all the trash, games you liked and games that you tried and didn't end up liking, etc?

you DO have a LOT of games lol.

Yeah, having a lot of games and OCD is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ af. I constantly never know the "best" way to organize them and I always just resort them.

Well obviously you're just taking the 'game' aspect of all of this to a whole new level. :D

I'll add you, and you can help me sort out this nightmarish hell of a library.

I don't. I know whether I've played a game, although I've started to make a thread for myself to collect the games that I've played. Not entirely sure what the usefulness of this is.

When I'm looking for the next game to play, I just ignore the trash.

Maybe I'll actually throw them into a category eventually. It just wasn't an option before, as these weren't stored on the Steam servers.

Current categories. Usually I have the library filtered to installed games, but that would mean that a couple of categories would drop off.

I also hide some games, mainly duplicates or unnecessary versions. Think of Company of Heroes Legacy, Civ 4+Civ 4 Warlords (I play Beyondthe Sword), Divinity classic, Kings Bounty Armored Princess (I've installed Crossworlds), etc. Also some betas and a few games I really don't care about anymore.

This really comes in handy to find games when I open the
Collections section.

This is a good way and a way I'd like to do it but I have hundreds of devs / publishers since I got like 1400 games. It'd be hard for me.

I have no clue how many times i created categories only to delete them later on.

Open the Collections View, white squares> then drag each game across to the collection window
