Like the others have said the hunger delay can be adjusted if you are playing singleplayer mode in games like Ark, Atlus(the game with 3 bars to babysit), Conan Exiles, Rust and others.
You can play it with super feral 28 Days Later type zombies, or slow shambling only walk Night of the Living Dead zombies....or no zombies at all which makes it just an open world crafting/survival game.
