2) Yes, alongside the summer sale.
Not necessarily the best one, because of that. We'll probably see tons of "I have send $200 to my Steam wallet already, what should I buy in the sale?", or even "I will be buying this and that and that, what about you?" in the time before the sale -- with this kind of customer behavior, publishers have no reason to give the bestest discounts ever.
For other large sales on Steam, we generally see other stores doing theirs first. This probably biases my view on the Steam sales a bit -- if a "new great" discount shows up on these stores first, and I decide to finally buy the game, then I'm no longer interested in that game, it goes off the Waitlist, and I won't even see whether Steam gets the same discount.
This might be less of a thing for the Christmas sale, since everyone wants theirs in the Christmas / New Year time, and those dates are fixed. But, as always, we'll see. Also, unless it's a Flash deal, stores are likely to have overlapping sales, so I can wait until all the offers are on the table.
Incorrect. Summer and Winter sales are the largest 2 sales with the most games on sale.
