Is there a way to tell who logged into your steam account?
I got onto steam this morning only ti find out iv'e been logged out and my credentials had been supposedly changed. I changed my password but i'm a bit worried now, is there a way to tell what I.P's have been on your account?

a VPN is only against the Steam rules when purchasing something.. while it is a gid no no to have on active when purchasing something, I don't think they really care for casual usage but I may be wrong with that..

Bypassing region restrictions on games is also not allowed.

I don't know. You shouldn't even be doing this.

Well I have a right to use a VPN. I mainly just use it because I don't like my IP or anyone else collecting data on me. I know steam doesn't like VPN's because people use it to buy stuff for cheaper but all the prices for my steam acc have always displayed in my own currency anyway even with a VPN enabled.
people can still view that information, at that point however it is more limited to your ISP and whatever service or Server the VPN is being tunneled through.. the only way to truly not be tracked is to not use the internet

unless you are doing something against Canadian law when browsing the internet, you really don't have anything to worry about.. and even then the IP can not be traced directly to you as an individual without a court order to your ISP (Which they aren't likely to do unless you were child luring or something, heck even illegal downloads they won't do anything more than forward you a letter.. most Canadian Universities have specifically told students to ignore those forwarded letters because their really isn't much they can do to identify the exact user), at most they can track you down to the city or county you are in (for Example I am in New Brunswick, but any attempt to IP trace me never gets more accurate than the fact I am in York County)..

VPN's aren't really anymore secure than normal, they just have a totally different subset of problems.. just because marketing or paid youtube sponserships says it is the best way to secure you don't automatically believe it.. you are just trading part of one subset of issues with an entirely different subset of issues

as for the VPN, a VPN does have security concerns of its own just different.. the main concern there is whatever location it is being funneled through.. what VPN are you using? granted, I highly doubt that was the source of the leak..

I believe the one followd by a hashtag is the indentifier for the mobile app with the authenticator if memory recalls, as for the other two those would be the names of devices that have logged into your account at some point..

do the following:

Deauthorize all devices

Scan for Viruses and Malware (my preferred scanning methods are ESET and Malwarebytes, Malwarebytes while great has issues detecting certain types of Viruses (the team themselves say its not an anti-virus, but can work as an alternative one) so I like to use ESET Indepth custom scan as administrator first, then follow up with Malwarebytes.. if you ever download known Viruses off a repository and upload it to Virus Total, you will get situations where Malwarebytes is the only one that doesn't flag it)..

You changed the password on your phone so I suppose to reset from secure device step has already been done to an extent..

so you did have the apps 2FA activated already? hmm.. have you been logging into any "trading" or "gambling" sites? or at any point in time shared access to your account with anybody?

Well in case steam actually sees this i'll prove it:

https://gyazo.com/419b4fa10090b5d23a1ab5fd378ac510 I have a VPN through privateinternetaccess which I pay for. All my prices are still in CAD.( my wishlist for example here) I'm showing this incase someone from the steam staff thinks i'm doing something wrong.

Regardless if that policy is true that's ridiculous it's not any of steams business if someone uses a VPN. I have my own reasons for using it.
Steam is a private store, if you want to use it you have to play by their house rules..

Ok, whatever...that's dumb though I don't care if it's a private company. People have reasons for using VPN's and steam shouldn't be so paranoid. The only reason why outside of buying stuff for cheap is because all these companies want your information, that's why they don't like people using VPN's..

Well the point is I can back into my account now so that's all that matters.

so once again, were those two PC's ones you logged into? because if not your account is still at risk.. trying to help you here, but you haven't answered any questions in my attempt to do it

also that VPN company is based in the states, meaning it isn't keeping you anonymous at all.. a single request from most government agencies and they will have to turn over all your activity logs, which given how closely Canada and the US often work on CyberCrimes front they will most likely forward those logs to any relevant Canadian Departments..

Ok I understand. Is steam going to ban me now? I have over a 1000 games and iv'e never done antyhing wrong on steam in my entire life :s.. I guess i'll just get rid of my VPN or just change the region to my own..I didn't know you can't use a VPN outside of your region even if you're not trying to get stuff at a discounted price/cheating etc,... I just don't like corperations having access to my private data.

Anyway, to answer your question: https://gyazo.com/201c6f1600528a58aab0702d578dd6a4

the ones not scratched out are the ones I am worried about. The other user names I recognize and were either my own PC or other friends names which I am not concerned about. It's the one that's showing I am potentially concerned about because this individual has a tendancy to be very petty when he's angry. I wish it would actually show the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dates though so I can tell if that was an old login or not. Again it's not 100% it was his fault or i'm saying it was it's just a possibility.

if they want they can, and most online companies that sell product have similar policies in regards to VPN's.. whether they decide to act on it or not, hard to say as it really depends on other factors at play..

Either way we are getting distracter from your initial issue, using a VPN would not likely cause Steam to change your password on you so we should try and figure out what happened there, and it wouldn't show your System Name as something else either as that is a PC Indentifier not an internet one.. its why I asked you those questions, for us to help you you have to help us help you, and that requires truly and honestly answering questions asked

How do I deauthorize all devices.

And honestly i'm more concerned right now about Steam banning me for something dumb like we just discussed than I am someone trying to hack into my steam account because if they ban me for something dumb then that's it. At least if I was hacked then steam can help me.

first if someone hacks you and they do something that gets your account banned Steam won't lift it because you are responsible for your account security.. it is better to try and prevent future damage than worry about what came from what was already done, you have shown you didn't know so Steam likely won't take immediate action as long as you don't use a VPN outside of Canada anytime you are using Steam in the future

to Deauthorize all Devices go to "Steam" in the upper left, go to settings, "Manage Steam Guard and Account Security" and click the big blue "Deauthorize all Devices"

NOTE: This Deauthorizes ALL devices that are currently authorized, meaning after it is done you will have to relog into every device you use Steam on, Mobile included

Should I contact steam support about the VPN thing? I just wanna tell them i'm innocent and simply had a VPN for my own private security, I never intended to do anything malicious.

Won't make a difference, like I said the best thing you can do for now is just not use a VPN anytime you are logged into Steam.. its better to just go ahead and stop doing what you were doing wrong, then draw further attention to that you were doing it

ugh ok fine. I'll probably just cancel it then if they're gonna make a big deal out of this...do they mind VPN's as long as their in the same country?

Also I deauthorized everything and logged back in with my phone and computer. Is there a way to see all authorized devices?
