The Hidden Half Life 2 Mod
I tried to download the Hidden on my computer and while I was downloading it, it said error writing to file FN57_Diffuse.vtf but then I checked to see if it was on steam and it was but everytime I try to load it, it crashes HELP PLZ

Where are you downloading it from? And is your copy of Half Life 2 properly installed, running, and updated?

What is the full name of the mod and can you maybe link to it? I'd suggest going to runthinkshootlive for half life mods, anyway.

I downloaded it on the Hidden website http://files.moddb.com/8465/download-hidden-source-beta-4b/ (The link I used) and I heard that you could just download the half life 2 demo and it would still work and I did and I also insalled Source SDK Base 2006

It's weird because It didn't fully download, but it is on steam

There is no "half life 2 demo", there's ... I mean, no you cannot play a mod for a game you don't legally OWN.

Buy the Orange Box. Install it completely, update it completely. Of course you can't play a mod for it until you do that.

I'd suggest the orange box because the engine that a lot of mods are running is for episode 2, not half life 2. There are numerous others running on the episode 1 version. Each one having come out at slightly different times, have had subtle (and not so subtle - enough to outright break many mods) changes.

Plus it has portal 1 on it, which that alone has nigh infinite awesome mods to run.

.... Have you even played half life 2? Because ... this shouldn't even be a question. Play the base game to understand how the engine runs with your computer, and how the controls usually work.

Also, there's the link to their site - the game's been abandoned for years, I don't expect it to run anyway as the only version there seems to still be in a beta state?

Ok I will buy the orange box because the only source games I have played are tf2 and very little portal
