EXTERNAL GPU FOR LAPTOPS
I have been currently amazed by the idea of using a laptop for gaming, saving me the money for a new pc, since my laptop has an amazing AMD a 12 ( Intel cote i7 ) but only 500 mb of graphics memory, which is a Pretty good value for the price, letting me play on minimum various recently made games and a lot of old 2010 games on max with certain lag.

I wanted to know if someone would aid me on the purchase of the GPU dock, and the installation , i started this thread for future use of other people, so you are not only helping me, also helping others, as the process goes I'll upload pictures !!!

Ill link the machine down below

GPU docks are about $200 +/- and the GPU itself is bout the same if not more.

That is around $500+ for the laptop that could easily build you a smaller PC.

most external docks only work with very specifci laptop modesl (usually ultra expensive 'gamer' laptops)

they either require a proprietary port, or require a very specific version of thunderbolt be available on your laptop

Added to that, I know many of the older docks were limited by the ports they used, meaning you don't generally get the same performance as a desktop would for the same card. It really isn't a worthwhile endeavour.

I'd rather invest in A) a desktop or B) a better laptop.

This was a LONG time ago but the old IBM Thinkpads used to have an external dock that could take an AGP card.
