Adventure puzzle games? Recommendations needed )
Hey everyone,

I know there's quite a few threads like this, but i'm short on time and can't keep up with all the new releases ; I thought of writing a list of games i love or hated, and if people can recommend games based on that it would be dope ) (and hopefully help some people choose some other games in the process)
Here are my favourite games in descending order of preference, with minimal description of what i loved and didn't like in each :

1/ The Witness
+amazing, challenging puzzle, the player has to figure out the rule for each set of puzzle, beautiful sound design and graphics
- nothing )

2/ Talos Principle, and road to gehenna
+amazing amazing puzzles, good learning cuve, the stars are another level, which means you can replay it til you get them all, absolutely fantastic
- not much really, there are no bugs, flows

3/ the swapper
+pretty challenging puzzles, very interesting mechanics, loved the sound and art, really cool story too
-i wish it would have been longer, or if a harder DLC could have been released

4/ Quern, undying thought
+puzzles are really cool and challenging, it's halfway between the witness for the no hand-holding aspect, and a more myst-like feel for the mysterious aspect. But the puzzles are all logical, and the world isn't crazy big, which funnels the player to find the answers when stuck.
-i would have liked to have another level of solveable puzzle, maybe somewhat harder, the story is very linear, and some easter eggs would have been pretty cool

5/ braid
+a very good learning curve, fantastic story, very challenging puzzle (especially if you really want to finish the game)
- not a huge fan of the art

6/ Limbo Inside
+ the ART ! and the atmosphere are fantastic ! very smooth controls, and a few creative deaths to solve some of the most challenging levels)
- once again, wished the puzzles were a bit harder sometimes, but more on the intellectual level than platforming

7/ Portal series
+voice acting and story is one of the best of all time, some puzzle are very satisfying
- only a few truly challenging puzzles in the main stories, why not add some extra rooms for extra challenge, optional stuff?

8 / Turing test
+ a good portal clone, but just like portal, most puzzles are too easy, only a couple of them made me scratch my head, great story
-puzzles are cool but too easy, little satisfaction upon solving them

9/ Eyes of Ara
+ a very underrated game ! good puzzles, the only drawback for me is the amount of pixel hunting, but really good puzzles, à la myst, somewhat closer to Quern in terms of the nature of the puzzles (it's a logical game) , no bugs
- a bit mah on the writing, some puzzles may be a bit obtuse

10/ Ether one
+ fairly challenging puzzles, a fantastic story........
- would have been a great game IF it wasn't for all the BUGS (especially redux edition.... missed 5projectors becasue of them, and you can't go back.... you're forced to use guide, and get spoiled, cause you never know if you're the one effing up or missing something, or if the game is broken)

I wish i could include the Myst series here, but for some reason, I can't get into it. Myst feels quite unfriendly to me (eventhough the story soudns great), there 's a lot of poking around and looking for things.... hard but not in the way I personally like (i might grow to love these games.... i've really tried). Obduction would have been better, but the wold is really too big IMO, running about not knowing what i'm looking for is somewhat exhausting to me... not really my cup of tea (but i loved Quern .... which according to a lot of people is very similar... maybe i'm approaching this the wrong way? )

I also love me an occasional walking sim, Firewatch or What remains of Edith Finch come to mind.

I also like some Point and Click, loved Broken Age (if only a bit childish at times... ), Monkey Island, Rusty Lake series, Amanita game series

Other puzzles i played
Gorogoa : loved the art, but so short... only some puzzzles are somewhat challenging
Quantum conundrum : didn't like the voice acting, but i played it right after Talos, so it might havz been that my expectations were too high
Chromagun : it's ok.... not really groun breaking, the first half is merely goign throught the room, a bit boring IMO...
QUBE I liked, but way too easy and too short... waiting for the release this year )
Archaica : the path of light : great puzzles, but a bit dry... would recommend though
Infra : a pretty boring game if you ask me, very poor on the puzzle solving, and horrendous voice acting.... tedious gameplay too
The hardest Thing : I HATED this game, reviewed it too

So there, I hope this list can help people with similar taste find new acquisitions to make, and if i can get some recommendations from peeps with similar taste, once again it would be great )

For now I have my eyes on Fract OSC.... and nothing else really.

have a nice day y'all

If you liked the main puzzles in the witness: (It's not an adventure game though. but the puzzles are fricking brutal)

If you want hard puzzles for a low price then snakebird is for you.

More portal for free, seemed like a decent side story also I remember it being WAY harder than portal:

Might be light on the story:

Light on the puzzles:

probably more somewhere.. Btw, i used this great website to sort and filter my games: https://www.lorenzostanco.com/lab/steam/

Thank you all !
How was Xing, i have it on my wishlist, but i'm unsure whether it's really a good game?

Outer Wilds is my favorite game of all time! It is an adventure puzzle game. I won’t reveal more than that. It’s got an AWESOME dlc that adds terrifically to the story.

I know plenty of hentai puzzle games. I swear I have 30 copies of bejeweled in my library.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
