Valve to start making games again?

Gabe says "in the new era we have in our quiver really is the ability to develop hardware and software simultaneously".

No offense, but we've heard this before circa 2011 when Valve suggested the next generation of hardware (PS4, Virtual Reality) would finally allow for Half Life 3. Been here before Gaben ... been here before.

Lame 😒 News.

Where is Half-Life 3?

I've almost given up on Steam to be honest. Too many begging DOTA addicts, etc.

Oh, and most importantly: NO HALF-LIFE 3!!!
Gabe said nothing about Hl3, just that they would be making games again.. And lets be frank, if they started the work on development in 2011, this would be about when those projects would be nearing complition. Remember, as straight forward as Doom 2016 is, that game took 8 years. Your average cod game takes 4-5.

HL3 will never happen. Gabe and co are smart enough to know that it would be a disaster. The fandom is waay too over-hyped for it, to the point where even if the game spontaneously cured cancer and provided free sustainable renewable energy, it would still fail to please them.

The fans are what killed that game. Until they stop meming about Hl3 for a couple years, its not going tro happen.
I don’t care if HL3 is 💩 I just want to finish the storyline they left wide open in HL2:EP2.

That's not gonna happen. That's by design.
If you've ever watched 'Thee Italian Job' you'll understand.
They made enough money with steam, there is no reason for them to make another game.
Stop thinking devs care about players, they just care about money.
they also said 12/12/12 was the end of the world.

Because every McDonald's worker cared about the people their taking orders from. :)
I would recommend going and watching the interview with Gabe from VNN. It was really intersting as they dont work like a normal coperation(others should follow). Its basically if you have time and others feel like joining in, then it becomes a priority. Right now their focus is on VR and engineering. The 300 people(that was his count) basically have a say in everything. They are at such a higher intellect than just lets make HL3 becasue thats what they say we should do.
Bingo. Basically If you have a project idea you have to sell it to the other people at the company and get them to join in. BAsically means they are ensuring that each project is something that is at least they are passionate about.

MOstly they've been making a good vR push, and to be fair they have done well in that regards. THey're setting up open apis for the current and next generation giving counterbalance to the push of companioes like MS that want to control everything and have everyone locked into their platform.
Well they are already commited to Artifact and they probably have a few others underwraps. or related to artifact.

HL3 isn't going to be released. Move on. A new IP = more freedom.

I suspect that whatever they're trying to do they're trying to make it the best, partially because of the reputation they have. Beyond CS:GO, their only recent blunder was letting people charge for the Half-Life IP. Black Mesa is an attempt at carving a diamond but the other two were pretty trash.

"I don't think there's much of a point to speculating about it."
Steam os, half life 3, yeah yeah valve
Nice try Gaben:
