Why are 90 percent of anime profile pictures "lewd but not newd"

What is it about this particular group that attracts them to show cartoon women in lewd poses?

Well I know for a fact that's complete BS. You absolutely do see it and it's on your own profile, just not on the main picture. How on earth do you not see what has been dubbed "hentai face" on a large majority of profiles? If you play literally any multiplayer game that you can see profile pictures by checking scoreboards or something of the sort, you will see it at LEAST once in the first 48 hours.

Steam didn't make that, the devs of the game submitted it and considering steam as a whole (Example being greenlight) has 0 monitoring whatsoever, the only exception being the forums where they've hired community members, they accepted it without taking a second look.
