Why is Valve called Valve?
I guess the name steam came from their name valve so why are they called valve?

Personally I think Valve .. and the logo where the valve is in someones head.. means .. that..

They wanted to be the conduit in which you get all PC stuff.. they are the ones that are in control of the valve controlling the flow of games/applications into your head.

Valves can be shut off..

Why are you called Hoxworth?

I would check wikipedia to see if they have picked up an "origin story" for the name. Sometimes such things get mentioned in an interview.

Also, the wikipedia article should tell you who founded Valve; maybe check their pages too.

...w-well why are you called... actually don't answer that, that username is so edgy my finger got cut.

Not a real reason apparently, they just named it 'Valve LLC' in 1996 and then steam came about later, no real reason why it's called valve.

I suppose it's meant to be evocative of the flow of ideas, If you look at their logo you'll certainly get that vibe.

I'd be impressed if those were actual valve employes.
