Can steam account be hacked by IP?
Basically one of my friend send me a link. I (stupidly) open the link and he grabbed my ip. So, what i want to know is if he can hack my account with my ip.

P.S.
I have steam guard enabled.

Your IP is public. Anything you connect to knows it, and has to know it.

Read up on what an IP address is if you want.

So, no.

I would worry more about whatever you clicked on.

malwarebytes.com scan your system.

Well if he knows your IP then he can scan your ports and if he finds a vulnerability then he can access your computer so yes he can hack you if he knows your IP.

If you have a dynamic IP from your ISP then just sign off from the internet then back on and you should have a new IP assigned to you, but to be sure check your IP address before and after.

As he had your IP and you have been online with that for some time you should run some anti-virus scans on your computer to see if he installed any trojans like keyloggers or backdoors on your computer.

Also if during the time you had the same IP you typed your password for any account you have (steam, email, computer / operating system, any software / website, or anything at all) then it is best practice if you change those after you completed the virus scans, especially if the scan found any viruses / trojans / whatever.

And in general it is best practice to change passwords every now and then so is a good time to do it anyway. Can't hurt.
